The UTPB women’s soccer team, playing in their final game of the 2009 season, fell in a heartbreaker to Dallas Baptist University, 1-0, this afternoon.
The loss moves the Lady Falcons to 6-12-1 overall and 3-8 in Heartland Conference play. Dallas Baptist improves to 8-10-1 overall and 7-5 in conference action.
Though statistically the Lady Falcons seem to dominate the first half of play, the teams entered intermission scoreless. The Lady Falcons outshot the Lady Patriots in the opening half 10-2, but could not get any attempts to find the back of the nets.
Finally at the 70:12 mark, Allyson Bales scored what would be the game winner. As the game would have it, Bales scored on a free kick – from 40 yards out. UTPB could not find the nets the rest of the way and the Lady Falcons fell, 1-0.

The UTPB women’s soccer team extended their win streak to three consecutive games by defeating Newman University, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon . The win moves the Lady Falcons to 6-11-1 overall and 3-7-1 in Heartland Conference play. Newman falls to 8-7-4 overall and 6-4-2 in conference action.
Hannah Dozier got the Lady Falcons on the board at the 35:05 mark when she scored from 10 yards out on a breakaway. UTPB would use Dozier’s goal to take a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Dozier scored her second goal at the 54:21 mark when she intercepted an errant pass from a Newman player to the goalie. Dozier knocked it in from close range to give the Lady Falcons a 2-0 lead. Finally, with just under ten minutes to play, Dozier crossed a pass to Brittany Booth, who found the back of the net to provide the final margin of 3-0.
The shutout victory for the Lady Falcons is their second in their last three outings. Over the last three contests, the Lady Falcons have outscored their opponents, 8-1.
The Lady Falcons will play their final regular season contests on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 when they travel to Dallas Baptist University. Game time is set for 4 pm.

The UTPB women’s soccer team defeated Angelo State on the road, 1-0. The victory improves the Lady Falcons to 5-11-1 overall. Angelo State dropped to 9-9 on the season.
At the 28:25 mark, UTPB’s Hannah Dozier scored what would be the game’s only goal. The goal was scored when Jessica Lentz sent a cross pass in front of the net. At that point, Dozier found the back of the net for the Lady Falcons.
Angelo State just outshot UTPB in the contest overall at 16-14, but the Lady Falcons ultimately had the one shot that mattered most in the contest.
UTPB will travel to Wichita, KS to battle Newman University on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009. Game time is set for 4 pm.

The UTPB women’s soccer team dominated visiting Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-1. The win moves the Lady Falcons to 4-11-1 overall and 2-7-1 in conference play while TAMIU falls to 0-14-1 overall and 0-8 in Heartland Conference action.
Brandy Watts got UTPB on the board just 23 minutes into the contest when Kaylen Gerkey crossed a pass into the box, where Watts punched it in from eight yards out. Then, with 36 seconds left in the opening half, Sadie Moya found Hannah Dozier, who maneuvered past the goalie and scored to put the host up 2-0 at halftime.
Kaylen Gerkey picked up her second assist of the day at the 57 minute mark when her corner kick to the front of the box was put home by Tesla De La Pena to make it 3-0. The Lady Falcons final goal would come at the 63:32 mark when Kaylen Gerkey made a spectacular one-on-one move and scored from about 15 yards out, giving UTPB a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Dustdevils would be fortunate to get on the board in the final few minutes. A shot on goal was saved by UTPB’s Victoria Ramirez, who then dropped the ball well after the catch. The ball would fall into the nets for the only TAMIU point of the day.
The Lady Falcons will return to action Wednesday, October 28, 2009 when they travel to Angelo, TX. UTPB will battle Angelo State in non-conference action that is set to begin at 3:00pm.

The UTPB Lady Falcons soccer team stumbled at home this afternoon (10/22/09) to Heartland Conference foe Incarnate Word by a score of 2-1. The loss moves the Lady Falcons to 3-11-1 overall and 1-7-1 in league play on the season while the Lady Cardinals moved to 11-2-3 overall and 6-1-1 in league play.
Incarnate Word scored the game’s opening goal on a penalty kick at the 23:33 mark by Sarah Hernandez. The Lady Cardinals’ Emily Hernandez would add a second goal for the visitors with just less than three minutes remaining in the opening half. Incarnate Word would lead 2-0 at intermission.
In the second half, the Lady Falcons would attempt to rally behind Tesla De La Pena, who fired a free kick in from nearly 50 yards out at the 67:46 mark. Unfortunately, the Lady Falcons would squander a few late opportunities and fall by a final score of 2-1.
The Lady Falcons will return to action Saturday, October 24, 2009 when they host Texas A&M International University. The Heartland Conference match-up is set for 2:00pm in Odessa on the UTPB campus.

The UTPB women’s soccer team was dominated on the road by St. Edwards University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in Austin. With the loss, the Lady Falcons fall to 3-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in conference play. St. Edwards moved to 12-1-1 overall and 7-0 in Heartland Conference play.
St. Edwards’ Jordan Ynostrosa got the host on the board just six minutes into the contest when she scored from 10 yards out. Brianna Hinnenkamp then scored on a cross into the box that was deflected into the back of the net to give St. Edwards a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Janae Averett would score the game’s only goal in the second half on a one-timer off a rebound. Averett’s goal would provide the final margin of 3-0.
St. Edwards outshot the Lady Falcons in the game by an astounding margin of 27-2. Hannah Dozier had UTPB’s only shot on goal for the entire game.
The Lady Falcons will play host to Incarnate Word in Odessa on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Game time is set for 4:00pm.

The UTPB women’s soccer team will be leaving San Antonio stunned after falling to conference foe St. Mary’s, 3-2, on Thursday evening. With the games outcome, both teams move to 3-9-1 overall on the season. Unfortunately, the Lady Falcons are 1-5-1 in conference play, while St. Mary’s improved to 3-3 in conference action.
The Lady Falcons put together arguably one of their best halves o f the season in the opening stanza. UTPB got on the board just 1:13 into the contest when Kaylen Gerkey putback a rebounded miss to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Gerkey then assisted Tiffany Barrera at the 19:37 mark to put UTPB up 2-0. The score would stand as such until halftime.
St. Mary’s would use halftime to regroup however. The host finally got on the board at the 57:38 mark on Michal Ravitz penalty kick. Trailing 2-1, St. Mary’s Emilie Nelson would tie the score at 2-2 with just under 19 minutes to play. As the game entered the final 10 minutes, St. Mary’s Kelly Dowd would score the game winner on a header with 9:08 to play.
The Lady Falcons, who have only one win in their last nine outings, will travel to St. Edwards University in Austin on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Game time is set for 1:00pm.

The UTPB women’s soccer team fell battled visiting Newman University to a 1-1 stalemate on Sunday afternoon in Odessa. With the tie, the Lady Falcons move to 3-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play while Newman University now stands at 4-5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in Heartland Conference action.
The host Lady Falcons struck quickly when Hannah Dozier scored just two minutes into the contest off a one-timer from straight on. Brandy Watts provided the assist on the play and the Lady Falcons led 1-0. From there, neither team would score again in the opening half of play.
Newman University would strike quickly in the second half as Lauren Benning would score just three minutes into the half to tie the score at 1-1. For the remaining 42 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods, neither team would be able to find the net again. The game would end in a 1-1 tie.
Nearly every statistical category would be even in the contest. Newman took one more shot than the Lady Falcons (20-19) and each team had eight corner kicks. Lincoln was whistled for 11 fouls to only seven for the Lady Falcons.
UTPB will travel to St. Mary’s for a 3:00pm kick off next Thursday, October 15, 2009.

The UTPB women’s soccer team fell in San Antonio to Incarnate Word, 2-1, on Saturday evening. With the loss, the Lady Falcons fall to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play while #19 nationally ranked Incarnate Word moves to 9-1-2 overall and 4-0 in Heartland Conference action.
The host Lady Cardinals Lianah Flores scored on a one timer at the 19:40 mark to open the scoring in the contest. Flores’ goal would be the only score for either team in the opening stanza.
Incarnate Word struck early in the second half to make it 2-0 when Sarah Hernandez dribbled through the defense and found the back of the net unassisted at the 47:56 mark, just under three minutes into the second half.
The Lady Falcons would get on the board when Hannah Dozier beat the goalie at the 57:10 mark. Neither team would find the net again in the contest as the Cardinals won, 2-1.
The Lady Cardinals dominated much of the contest as they attempted 25 shots to only five by the Lady Falcons.
UTPB will host Newman University for a 1:00pm kick off next Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the UTPB Soccer Field in Odessa.

The UTPB Lady Falcons soccer team was tripped up at home this afternoon by Heartland Conference foe St. Mary’s University by a score of 3-1. The win for the visiting Blue and Gold was their first in nine outings this season. The loss moves the Lady Falcons to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in league play on the season while the Lady Rattlers moved to 1-7-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.
The Lady Falcons dominated the opening 14 minutes of action, which was capped by a Kaylen Gerkey goal at the 14:02 mark of action. Gerkey scored from straight on and 20 yards out on a clean assist from Hannah Dozier. Unfortunately, things would gradually decline for the Lady Falcons the rest of the way.
The Lady Rattlers would strike back with two goals in just under a two minute span. Emilie Snelson got the visitors on the board to tie the game at 1-1. Melinda Gentry quickly added a long 30-yarder off a throw in to make it 2-1 for the Lady Rattlers. The game would remain at 2-1 at intermission.
Emilie Snelson would put the icing on the cake for the visitors when she also scored off a throw in. The goal, which came nearly 62 minutes into action, was her second goal of the afternoon. That goal led to the final margin of 3-1.
The Lady Falcons will return to action Thursday, October 1, 2009 when they travel to Texas A&M International University. The Heartland Conference match-up is set for 5:00pm in Laredo.

The UTPB Lady Falcons soccer team fell at home this afternoon (9/24/09) to Heartland Conference foe St. Edwards University, 4-1. The loss dropped the Lady Falcons to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in league play on the season while the Lady Hilltoppers moved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
St. Edwards opened the scoring 37 minutes into the contest when Korre Fairman scored off a corner kick for the visitors. Just one minute later, UTPB’s Lady Falcons would strike back when Hannah Dozier scored off an assist from Letha Irvin to knot the score at 1-1. The score would remain there as the two teams headed to intermission.
The second half was owned and dominated by the Lady Hilltoppers. Janae Averett, Brianna Hinnenkamp, and Korre Fairman would each find the back of the net during the final 45 minutes of play as St. Edwards cruised to the conference road victory.
St. Edwards dominated the field of play as they outshot the Lady Falcons 23-6 in the contest.
The Lady Falcons will return to action Saturday, September 26, 2009 when they host St. Mary’s University. The Heartland Conference game is set for 2:00pm.
Sept. 22, 2009
The UTPB women’s soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to host Abilene Christian on Tuesday afternoon, 3-2. The loss drops the Lady Falcons to 2-5 while ACU moves to 4-3 on the season.
Abilene Christian scored the game’s first goal at the 14:22 mark of the first half. The goal would be the only point by either team in the opening half of play.
After 25 minutes of second half action, and just more than 70 minutes overall, UTPB would strike back with Hannah Dozier’s first goal of the day. She was assisted by Kaylen Gerkey on the play. Then, just three minutes later, Dozier would strike again to give the Lady Falcons a 2-1 lead with only 17 minutes to play in the contest.
Courtney Wilson would answer for ACU off a corner kick with just under eight minutes to play. Wilson’s goal would knot the score at 2-2 and eventually send the game into overtime.
It would take over 102 minutes of action and the second overtime session to get a winner. In that second overtime, ACU freshman Lexi Stirling’s shot was blocked by a Falcon defender and Julie Coppedge found the rebound and the net for the 3-2 win.
The Lady Falcons will return to the field on Thursday afternoon when they host fellow Heartland Conference member St. Edwards University. Game time is set for 4:00pm at the UTPB Soccer Field.
The UTPB Lady Falcons soccer team fell on the road last night to New Mexico State, 3-0. The loss dropped the Lady Falcons to 2-4 on the season while the Lady Aggies moved to 3-4.
NMSU’s Veronica Subu opened the game’s scoring just past the 11 minute mark of the contest. Jazmin Cardoso and Crystal Burns would also add first half goals for the Lady Aggies, giving the host a 3-0 cushion at intermission.
Neither team would score in the second half of the contest.

The UTPB women’s soccer team fell behind early and was unable to stage any type of comeback as they were defeated by host West Texas A&M, 3-1. With the loss, the Lady Falcons dropped to 2-3 on the season while West Texas A&M moved to 5-0-1.
West Texas A&M got on the board just more than 14 minutes into action when Miriam Dominguez scored on a penalty kick. Then less than 2:00 before intermission, West Texas A&M’s Lindsay McHorse scored from 20 yards out to make it 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, West Texas A&M’s Becky Hewson scored on an assist by Samantha Garland to put the host up 3-0.
Hannah Dozier would prevent the shutout for the Lady Falcons as she scored from 10 yards out just past the 72-minute mark of action.
The Lady Falcons will return to action on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2009 when they travel to New Mexico State for a 6:00pm contest.

The UTPB women’s soccer team overcame a rainy afternoon to defeat visiting Eastern New Mexico, 3-1. The win moves the Lady Falcons to 2-2 on the year. Eastern New Mexico falls to 1-4 overall.
The Lady Falcons got on the board at the 11:00 mark of the contest when Marrianne Hubnik scored from 10 yards out on an assist by Tiffany Richter. The goal gave UTPB a 1-0 lead, where things would remain at intermission.
After more than 25 minutes of scoreless action in the second half, Eastern New Mexico’s Danielle Thurman would scored on 10 footer off a deflected save by UTPB goalie Victoria Ramirez. The goal knotted the contest at 1-1.
Less than six minutes later, Brandy Watts would put the Lady Falcons back in front to stay when she scored a 25 footer from straight on. Marrianne Hubnik assisted on the play and the Lady Falcons were up by a 2-1 margin. Five minutes later, Hannah Dozier finished off the visitors when she found the back of the net for the Lady Falcons. UTPB’s initial shot attempt bounced off the side bar before Dozier punched it in for the game’s final goal.
Though UTPB was called for 13 fouls to just two against Eastern New Mexico, the Lady Falcons outshot the visitors in the contest, 16-7.
The Lady Falcons will return to the field when they travel to play West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX. Game time is set for 2:00pm.
