UTPB Cross Country Men Finish Fourth, Women Fifth At Heartland Conference Meet

The UTPB cross country teams traveled to Dallas Baptist University on Saturday to participate in the Heartland Conference cross country meet. The women’s team placed fifth out of nine teams while the men’s team finished fourth out of seven teams.
On the women’s side, Ariel Renteria finished 14th overall, which allowed her to be named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference team, with a time of 25:09. Renteria has consistently led the Lady Falcons throughout the season. Monica Tavarez was the only other UTPB runner in the Top 20, as she finished 20th overall. First year head coach Josh Caudill reflected afterwards on the women’s program. “Our goal this season was to finish better than where we were picked in the preseason (seventh), which we did with our fifth place finish. I believe our women’s program took a step forward this year. I am also very proud of Ariel and her efforts this season, which resulted in her being named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference team. She truly deserved this honor.”
On the men’s side, James Blessinger and Roy Rodriguez were named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference team for their performances. Blessinger, the leader for the Falcons throughout the season, finished 11th overall with a time of 27:30. Rodriguez finished right behind Blessinger in 12th place overall with a time of 27:47. Men's Cross Country Team finish 4th at Incarnate Word

The UTPB men’s cross country teams traveled to San Antonio this weekend to participate in the Incarnate Word Invitational. The Falcons finished fourth in the 10-team meet.
Roy Rodriguez paced the Falcons in the 8k event by running a time of 29:00. Five Falcons finished within 1:01 of each other.
Afterwards, Coach Josh Caudill expressed pleasure with his UTPB men. “I am very pleased with our overall effort. James has been sick this week, but other runners stepped up for us. I, as well as these young men, feel quite confident as we head to conference.”

Rainout Turns into Dual Meet for Men’s Cross Country

The UTPB men’s cross country teams traveled to Seguin only to have a rainout. However, they later accepted a challenge to run against Texas A&M International in a dual meet.
James Blessinger not only paced the field for the Falcons, but finished first overall in the event. Blessinger defeated A&M’s Robert Coronada by eight seconds.
Afterwards, Coach Josh Caudill expressed pleasure with his UTPB men. “We are finally coming together as a team,” he stated. “It felt good to run well today against a team that is always very good and has had our number for the past few years.”

Cross Country Teams Struggle At Texas Tech Open
The men’s cross country team participated on Friday, September 18, 2009 in the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock, TX. The men struggled on the day as they placed 10th in the 12-team event.
As has become the norm, James Blessinger led the way for the Falcons in the event. He finished with a time of 28:01. The top five finshers for UTPB are listed below.

UTPB Cross Country Men Finish Sixth

The UTPB cross country teams traveled to Amarillo on Saturday, September 12, 2009 to participate in the West Texas A&M Invitational cross country meet. The women’s team placed fifth out of nine teams while the men’s team finished fifth out of seven teams.
On the men’s side, newcomer James Blessinger again led the way for the Falcons in the 5-mile run by posting a time of 28:10. His finish was good for 18th overall individually in the event.
As a team, the men finished in fifth place in the seven-team field with 145 points. Garden City Community College won the event with only 27 points. Eastern New Mexico tallied 49 points and host West Texas A&M finished third with 65 points. Texas A&M - Commerce finished a distant fourth ahead of the Falcons with 91 points.
Coach Josh Caudill sees much room for improvement with the UTPB men. “It is still early in the season,” he stated. “Without question, we have a lot of work to do and room to grow as a team.”

The UTPB cross country teams traveled to San Marcos on Saturday to participate in the Texas State Invitational cross country meet. Both teams finished sixth in the eight-team event.

UTPB Men Finish Second in UTPB Invite

The UTPB men’s cross country team began their season this weekend by hosting the UTPB Invitational on campus in Odessa, TX. The Falcons, who tallied a total of 45 points, finished second to only El Paso Community College. El Paso Community College, who collected seven of the top nine spots in the 8k race, eased to the first place finish with only 20 points.
